This
year, Conifers decided to feature the work of a single graphic artist.
All artwork for the 2009 issues, a series of black and white photographs, is by
Tucker Garcia.
Tucker Garcia, First-Year, Pine Manor College
Tucker is a first year student at Pine
Manor College. He is majoring in English with a minor in creative writing. He
enjoys all forms of artwork. His photographs are his first submission to
Conifers. Garcia is a member of both the Pine Manor soccer and lacrosse team. He
identifies as transgender.
Authors
This year,
Conifers is proud to publish four literary short stories, seven poems, two
personal essays, one work of academic writing, and one genre short story.
Ashley Albrecht, Senior, University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana
Ashley is double-majoring
in English and psychology, and minoring in philosophy. On campus, she is a
music writer for Illini Media's BUZZ entertainment magazine. Ms. Albrecht
aspires to become a college professor and make substantive contributions in the
realm of academia. Literature's ability to tackle the "big questions" of human
existence continues to daily inspire her.
Anne Elie Antoine, First-Year, Pine Manor College
Anne Elie
was born in Haiti. Later in her life, she moved to the United
States. As an immigrant, she faced many difficulties in her life, but has always
overcome them. She is currently a freshman at Pine Manor College, and is
planning, with God’s help, to graduate college with a bachelor in nursing.
Josh Brown, First-Year, University of Massachusetts at Amherst
Joshua is an 18 year old Communications major at the University of Massachusetts
at Amherst, he has been writing poetry for several years, and was the president
of the Lowell High School Poetry Society for the 2007-2008 school year. He hopes
to publish a book of his work in the future, and hopes to be writing scripts for
television dramas when he has completed college.
Stephanie Callan, First Year, Pine Manor College
Stephanie is a
first-year student at Pine Manor and an English major. She would like to
send her love to the collective.
Grace Hansen, Sophomore, College of Wooster
Grace Hansen is a
Junior at the College of Wooster, Ohio. Her poetry and fiction appear in
this issue.
Symphony Knight, First Year, Pine Manor College
Symphony is
nineteen years old and she is from Roxbury, Massachusetts. She is
interested in journalism and business. Some of her work has previously
appeared in the Boston Globe.
Catherine E. Lagerberg, Senior, Pine Manor College
Catherine is a
senior at PMC.
Carena Liptak, Sophomore, Bard College
Carena is a current
sophomore at Bard College where she studies Creative Writing, Literature, and
Russian. She is originally from Rochester, NY.
Rebecca Luberoff, First Year, Bryn Mawr
Rebecca is a
first-year student at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania who grew up in
Lexington, Massachusetts. She has been writing stories since she was six and is
currently working on a novella.
Catherine Maki, Sophomore, Pine Manor College
Catherine grew up in
Upstate New York. She is currently attending Pine Manor College and is double
majoring in Biology and English. After college, Catherine intends to take her
two cats with her to graduate school.
Erin Thorpe, Junior, Pine Manor College
Erin is a
twenty-two-year-old English major in her Junior year at Pine Manor
College. In her spare time, she likes to write novels and short stories
and watch horror movies.
