9:00 - 1:00, Friday

The University Preparation Program is specifically designed for students who are considering study at a U.S. college or university after completing their English course.

This challenging course not only prepares you for the TOEFL, but also concentrates on the skills necessary for academic success.

The 27 lessons each week are divided as follows:

  • Twenty lessons per week in Applied Grammar, Academic Reading and Writing, Listening and Speaking, all with an emphasis on developing necessary skills for university study in the USA.
  • Seven lessons per week, specializing in:
    • Preparation for the TOEFL exam with monthly institutional TOEFL tests offered
    • Vocabulary Development
    • Advanced Essay Writing
    • Study Skills
    • The social, cultural and academic life at a university in the USA

Students in this program, with the permission of the professor, may have the option of auditing college classes.

Self-study and homework assignments are part of your course. You will be expected to complete your self-study assignments and may use our multi-media centers and specialized software.

Academic counseling is offered to all students interested in learning more about study at a university in the USA. The Institute's staff offers assistance in researching information and completing applications.

Students interested in the UPP are encouraged to attend the Semester and Academic Year Program.
