Hours & Services

Services & Policies:
Interlibrary Loan

To expand our Library resources, we provide Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services to current Pine Manor College faculty, staff and students registered for a semester or more and who not currently owe fines for overdue movies or lost books. All others, including alumnae, neighbors, and students not registered by semester, must seek ILL through their public libraries. The Head of Reference may grant exceptions to this policy.

Requests for Interlibrary Loan from the WEBnet Consortium or other libraries should be completed via the Borrow from Other Libraries link on our home page. Students wishing to place a request for a book that has already been requested by another student must place an original request for the book. Books or articles may be requested.  Copyright law, however, limits the number of articles that may be requested.

The following types of materials do not generally circulate through ILL:

  • audiovisual items (videos, DVDs, CDs and cassettes)
  • microforms
  • newspapers
  • periodicals
  • reference items
  • rare books
  • archival items
  • reserve materials.
Please note that requests for materials from libraries outside the WEBnet consortium may take up to several weeks to fulfill.

Our Obligations, Responsibilities and Lending Practices

The Annenberg Library abides by the standards set forth in the American Library Association's National Interlibrary Loan Code (2001), and the NELINET Interlibrary Loan Reciprocal Code. We are governed by national Copyright law (Title 17, United States Code) and abide by the CONTU guidelines.

We borrow first from libraries which have signed the NELINET agreement, then from all others. We give preference to libraries which impose no lending fee over those which charge for interlibrary lending. As a lending library, we shall practice as liberal a lending policy as is possible, with due consideration for the interests of our own patrons. We shall endeavor to fill all requests, within the limits of time and staffing constraints. As a lender, when it is impossible to fulfill all requests, we lend first to libraries which have signed the NELINET agreement, then to all others.
