TENURE TRACK APPOINTMENT: MATHEMATICS
September 2008

Pine Manor College seeks applications for a full-time tenure track appointment in Mathematics, to begin in September 2008. We are committed to finding a colleague with a willingness to participate in an ongoing dialogue to define and implement quantitative reasoning goals campus-wide, as well as teach a spectrum of mathematics courses. She or he should have experience with effective pedagogies for mathematics learning and a commitment to quantitative reasoning, including curricular development and outcome-based course design with consistent assessment tools. Candidates should have experience with and a commitment to teaching in a diverse learning environment.  We prefer a candidate with a PhD in mathematics with emphasis on education and learning, or an EdD with emphasis on mathematics learning, but will consider candidates with other advanced degrees.

ASSISTANT REGISTRAR

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

The Assistant Registrar, a full-time position reporting to the Registrar of the College, is responsible for the daily operations of the Office of the Registrar and the supervision of all student employees. Other duties include; accurately evaluating and determining credits, producing and processing transcript and verification requests, performing data entry for course registrations and add/drops, and providing customer service for the front counter area of the office.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years higher education or related experience required
  • Experience with information systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel

This ten-month position involves implementation of the Internship Program required of all seniors, as well as career education and counseling for all students. The position includes teaching at least one section of a sophomore seminar linking liberal arts learning to the workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience working in a diverse academic setting required, involving career education in both curricular and co-curricular contexts. School to work experience a plus. Graduate degree preferred.

EDUCATION COORDINATOR FOR ASCL

SUMMARY:

Education Coordinator of the Academy for Academic Support for College and Life, a residential on-campus 13th year program for young women aging out of the foster care system who are seeking preparation for and admittance into college. The Academy is run jointly by Pine Manor College and the Home for Little Wanderers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Education Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the academic component of the program, overseeing the teaching faculty and coordinating on-site individualized academic support, as well as providing some direct academic instruction. This is a half-time position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate degree required as well as previous experience with 13th year transitional programs and/or first year college teaching in a diverse environment.

FINANCIAL AID COUNSELOR

DEPARTMENT: FINANCIAL AID
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL AID
STATUS: FULL-TIME

SUMMARY:

The Financial Aid Counselor is primarily responsible for maintaining the smooth operations of the department and providing administrative support for the Director of Financial Aid. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

S/he is responsible for the certification of alternative loans (must maintain current active knowledge of all interest rates and benefits), managing the Federal Work Study program, certifying and reconciling the State Grant programs, financial aid packaging, and verifying the guidelines for foreign students.  The Financial Aid Counselor maintains all financial aid correspondence such as awards letters, verification documentation, and missing information requests.  This position also is responsible for hiring and supervising the work study students.  Additional responsibilities include advising students and their families on the financial aid application process, and any other duties as requested. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA degree
  • 2-4 years of experience working in higher education preferably in Financial Aid or Admissions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Adept at working with numbers and the ability to explain financial aid policies, both government and College, in lay persons terms to students and their families
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and patience
  • Good organizational skills and detail oriented

RECRUITING COORDINATOR/HEAD COACH

SUMMARY:

The Recruiting Coordinator/Head Coach is a full-time 12 month position that reports to the Director of Athletics.  This position supervises the assistant coach or coaches of their specific sport.  The coaching opportunities available are soccer, volleyball and softball.  The individual filling this position is responsible for being present at all practices and games and being prepared to perform the duties and responsibilities of a coach.  The responsibilities also include organization and administration of team travel, coordinating team meals, officials for their sport and site management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

This position also is responsible for recruiting student-athletes.  This position is to achieve a goal of 20 deposited student-athletes.  This individual will be expected to be on the road during the off-season.  This individual is the first line of recruiting.  They are expected to make the first contact and continue until the prospective student-athlete comes on campus.

This position will also be responsible for other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
