Visual Arts

The B.A. in Visual Arts provides an awareness and appreciation of all aspects of the visual arts and enables students to develop skills and acquire information necessary to become professional artists and designers or work with artists in such areas as publishing, television, merchandising, and graphic design. A senior thesis project and a 6-credit senior internship serve as preparation for work in a professional setting.

Visual Arts students develop a basic understanding of art history through at least two Art History courses. Each 4-credit Visual Arts course requires 12 hours of studio work weekly, including scheduled class time.

Students can choose to concentrate in:

  • Graphic Design
  • Studio Arts
  • Photography
  • Visual Communcation
  • Teacher Licensure (Middle and Secondary Education)
