CHESTNUT HILL, MA -- Erica Adams, a former three-sport student-athlete at Nichols College, has been named head women’s lacrosse coach at Pine Manor College, its athletic department announced Thursday.
“I'm extremely thankful and excited for this opportunity,” said Adams. “I'm ready to bring my passion and enthusiasm for the game to the student-athletes and the athletic department at Pine Manor.”
Adams starred collegiately at Nichols College in Dudley, MA. During her career at Nichols, she played a number of positions, including goalkeeper. She currently holds the record for the most saves in a season, with 200, set as a freshman, when she started all 14 games for the Bison.
The following two years, Adams also played midfielder and defender. As a sophomore, she saw action in 13 games, starting 11. Despite playing 10 games in goal, she made good on her field opportunities, tallying two goals and three points on three shots.
As a junior in 2007, she led Nichols to its first Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament appearance, starting 12 of 13 contests. She finished among the Bison leaders in most offensive categories, including goals, with eight, and points, with 10.
A three-sport student-athlete who also played soccer and ice hockey at Nichols, a knee injury kept Adams out of action her senior season.
A native of Braintree, MA, she began her lacrosse career as a member of the inaugural girls’ lacrosse team at Braintree High School. A midfielder and defender, she was also part of the school’s first girls’ ice hockey team.
Adams gained experience as a girls’ lacrosse coach at Braintree for the past two seasons. She is also an assistant ice hockey coach at Westwood High School and a soccer coach at Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, MA.
She currently still plays competitive lacrosse and ice hockey in women's club leagues.
Adams graduated from Nichols in May of 2008 with a bachelor’s of science in business administration with a concentration in criminal justice. She currently resides in Attleboro.
