My name is Alicia Grenier, and I’m a sophomore at Pine Manor. I’ve been on campus since August 16 for RA (resident assistant) training. This past Monday my soccer team started preseason. I’m a striker on the team, and I was really excited to see all the new faces that were joining. I knew that with RA training and preseason, this week was going to be tiring and hectic.
Monday morning at 7 my alarm on my phone went off telling me to get up and get ready for our first preseason practice. Morning practice is mainly focused on conditioning and skills. There was a lot of hard work on the field, and I was pretty excited to see all the newcomers holding their own and really pushing themselves. Throughout the week I had to leave practice a few minutes early to get to RA training. There I had to fill up a bulletin board of things my first-year students could do while living in Boston, and I also had to make door tags for all my residents’ doors. My entire week was preparing me for Thursday, when the freshman finally moved onto campus. Now that it’s over, I’ve never been so tired before in my entire life.
The soccer program is quickly building. Last year was the first time that there was recruiting for soccer, and I was one of those recruits, along with eight others. This year soccer had eleven recruits – eleven! I was so excited when I saw how many people showed up to the first practice. I am looking forward to a great season with a great group of girls.
Well, I’m off to another orientation session, so I’ll talk to you next week!
