Alicia Grenier: VMA's, Sox & Soccer

This week has been very busy and exciting. I had my first paper due in my controversial issues class, my first project due in my studio arts class, and my first case study due in my adolescent psychology class. I am so happy now that they are done and don’t have to worry about them. However, I know that once Monday comes around, more work will be coming my way.

My week started off with the VMA’s on Sunday night with Sam, Veronica (a.k.a. V), and Chrissy. Before the VMA’s Sam and I went to KFC and pigged out on mashed potatoes, chicken, and mac and cheese. We also watched like 4 episodes of America’s Best Dance Crew and then the Pre-show to the VMA’s. The four of us had fun watching the VMA’s, talking about how awesome Madonna’s speech was on behalf of Michael Jackson, the controversy with Taylor Swift winning “Best Female Video,” and how Beyonce did the right thing with letting Taylor have “her moment.”

This week not only did I have to deal with school and soccer, I had to go home Monday night because I had to go to see my family, the whole time thinking, “I wonder what my teammates are doing at practice right now.” Although I wanted to be at practice I knew that where I needed to be was with my family. My mom, Nana, and uncle mean the world to me. Especially my baby cousin, Talan, who is going to be a year old in just two months, for which I am very excited! I have not seen him in a month and have received pictures from my Uncle and I cannot believe how big he is getting. I miss him a bunch!

This week in soccer we played Rivier College. Although we had a bad outcome, we are hoping to change that this weekend against Emerson College and get ourselves back in the game! I have really high hopes for the team this year, and I really believe that if we all come together and work hard then we will succeed!

Throughout the day on Thursday I was hanging out with V and she was talking about going to the Red Sox game with Courtney (a.k.a. Maine). Instead of practice on Thursday we had a team meeting. Throughout the meeting I got a text that said “We have a ticket for you, you’re coming to the game with us!” and immediately I was like “How? And I’m on RA duty, whose going to cover me?” and V quickly responded with, “Don’t worry, we got it covered.” I was so excited to hear that I was going to the Red Sox game. This was my first game this year, and I was happy that it was with two really good friends, a true Red Sox fan and V, who had never been to a Red Sox game before. Although they lost 4-3 against the Angels, we sang our hearts out to “Take Me out to the Ball Game,” and “Sweet Caroline.” We also decided that Yankee Candle should come out with a scent of what a ballpark smells like. I was so happy after that game because I felt like I had gotten closer with two really fun people.

Well, going to go watch the rest of the Red Sox game and get to bed. Talk to you next week!
