Chestnut Hill, MA - The Gators allowed an early pair of goals for the second game in a row, determining their fate in the first 17 minutes of 0-2 loss on Senior Day against visiting Suffolk.
The Rams got on the board at the 10-minute mark, when Lesley Hayden (Ross, CA) knocked home a putback off a Gina Dean (Revere, MA) shot. Hayden struck just under 7 minutes later on a feed from Meghan O'Connell (Abington, MA), giving the Rams all the scoring they would need in front of Samantha Stellmach (Portsmouth, NH), who stopped all three shots Pine Manor put on goal.
Kayla Nielsen (Saco, ME/Thornton Academy) notched seventeen saves in net, keeping the Gators in the game following another slow start. On Thursday against Emmanuel, PMC allowed two goals in the first 12 minutes of a 2-8 loss.
Today marked the final home game for seniors Bethany Kappell (Jamesville, NY/Manlius Pebble Hill), Essence Denton (Chicago, IL/Woodlands of Sacred Heart), and Natalie Hunt (Topsham, ME/Mt. Arrat), who got off two of the Gators nine shots, including a second-half header that banked off the crossbar. Cory Kinsella's club closes 2008 on Thursday at Regis at 3 pm.
