The Hess Gallery at Pine Manor College hosted an opening reception with Photographer Itaysha Jordan, Boston native and Pine Manor alumna. Itaysha Jordan '01 presented her iconic fashion photography, spoke about her technique and her career path. Her art in this current exhibit includes dramatic portraits of African American women. Jordan talked about her choice to capture this specific group as a subject that was historically under-represented in the world of fashion photography. Itaysha Jordan described how her education at Pine Manor helped her develop her skills and focus, and offered words of advise to current Pine Manor Visual Arts students.
||About the Artists
Itaysha now maintains a studio in New York (itayshajordan.com), and her client list includes Iman Cosmetics, Essence and Rolling Stone magazines, and Atlantic Records. Says Itaysha about her work: “I’ve always been attracted to the idea of fantasy — a creative space that is constructed entirely from the mind. The world of fashion and beauty is a wonderful place to experiment with that.”
