Pine Manor College is dedicated to providing its student-athletes high-level facilities and fields for competing, practicing and training.
Hedley Field, the Gators lacrosse and soccer facility, was dedicated on October 3, 1993 and was upgraded to include a synthetic grass surface in the summer of 2009. Surrounded by pine, oak, maple, hickory and hemlock trees, the picturesque field was the gift of the family of David Van H. Hedley, father of Melissa ’94. The facility includes seating to accommodate nearly 200 spectators and is measured to NCAA specifications for lacrosse and soccer, as well as field hockey.
In September 2002, the College unveiled six hard-surface tennis courts sitting atop Hedley Field. Twelve posts of silver-halide lights, which include sensors for optimum lighting, illuminate the six fully gated, NCAA-size courts on the south-most side of campus.
In Pine Manor Gymnasium, the Donald E. Brunelli, Jr. Basketball Court is named in honor of the Gators cherished former assistant coach, who passed away suddenly during a game on February 12, 1994. The court, which is also home to Gators volleyball, sits beneath the PMC Fitness Center and a number of athletics offices. It houses one NCAA-size court and two smaller courts, and in April 2009, Brunelli Court was home to a commercial shoot for Hewlett-Packard computers starring Boston Celtics star Kevin Garnett.
Pine Manor’s newly remodeled Fitness Room features state-of-the-art training, nautilus and free weight equipment. In summer 2008, Gators Athletics added a full line of Precor treadmills, stationary bicycles, and a year later added a variety of additional equipment to their workout facility. Overlooking Brunelli Court, the PMC Fitness Room is open to student-athletes and non-athletes alike.
Nestled in the northwest corner of campus sits the Pine Manor Softball Field. The site of the 2008 Great Northeast Conference Softball Tournament, the field features a scenic hitter’s background consisting of, from left to right, the College’s Commencement Field, a pond, Pine Manor Gymnasium, woodlands and large rocks.
