Basketball Earns 74-56 Victory at Bay Path

HOLYOKE, Mass. -- Pine Manor College women's basketball defeated host Bay Path College, 74-56, on Monday night at Holyoke Community College's Bartley Center. With the victory the Gators improve to 6-0 on the season. Bay Path drops to 1-4 with the setback. 

Pine Manor sophomore Alexis Lee (Akron, Ohio), pictured above, led all Pine Manor starters with 17 points while classmate Sybil Lynch (Hoboken, N.J.) finished with a game high 22 points coming off the bench.

Freshman Jayva Johnson (West Haven, Conn.) opened the scoring for with a three-pointer for the Gators but it was the host Wildcats who took the upper-hand in the early going, getting out to an 8-7 lead 3:33 into the contest. Johnson finished with 14 points in the contest.

A three-pointer from Lynch at 14:32 of the first half put Pine Manor ahead, 10-8, but Bay Path would remain within four points of the Gators until a jumper by Lynch at 4:44 of the first gave the Gators a 21-15 advantage. Bay Path continued to hang with the Gators as a jumper from senior Kayla Skiffington (East Longmeadow, Mass.) would draw the Wildcats to back within four, at 23-19, with 3:38 to go before the half.

Skiffington finished with 11 points and team high nine rebounds for Bay Path. Classmate Justin Hook (Berwick, Penn.) led the Wildcats with 15 point, while adding six rebounds. Bay Path junior Katherine Chabot (Brookfield, Mass.) added 11 points and seven rebounds and tied for game-high honors with four steals.

Pine Manor would then go on a 12-4 run to close out the first half, taking a 35-23 lead into the break. The run would turn out to be the difference in the contest as Pine Manor only outscored the Wildcats 39-33 in the second half, eventually taking the 74-56 victory.

For Pine Manor, sophomore Khiyana Isaac (Boston, Mass.) led all players with 11 rebounds while junior forward Natasia Franklin (Windsor, Conn.) also finished in double-figures, adding 11 points off the bench.

Pine Manor will be back in action following Thanksgiving when they host three consecutive home games, beginning with a 7:00 PM matchup with Albertus Magnus on Monday, December 2.
