Bats come alive Tuesday as Gators drop two
CLERMONT, FL -- After scoring six runs in its prior four games, the Pine Manor offense came alive in a pair of losses, as the Gators fell to Pitt-Bradford, 12-4, and Northwestern (MN), 17-10, Tuesday night at the Dot Richardson National Training Complex.
Shortstop Michelle Myers went 3-3 with a triple and three runs scored against Pitt-Brad, with fellow senior Courtney Wallace going 3-3 with a triple, three runs driven in and one run. Pitcher Tia Nelson helped her ow cause, going 2-3, as the Gators collected a season-high 12 hits.
In the night cap, junior Jess Kennedy continued her hot start at the plate, going 4-5 with a double and three runs scored. Myers, meanwhile, went 3-4, scoring twice, adding another triple and an RBI. Wallace, a three-time All-GNAC catcher, collected two more hits, scoring twice and driving in three.
Freshmen Flavia Vicente and Tia Nelson scored twice against Northwestern, with Nelson driving in a run and collecting another two hits for Pine Manor, which totaled 14 hits on the game.
The Gators (0-6) take on The College of New Jersey Wednesday morning at 9:30, then Wesleyan at 1:30.
