LEICESTER, MA -- Junior Alycia Dery (Millville, Mass.) scored two goals in the first half to help lift Becker College to a 6-0 win over Pine Manor College in non-conference women’s soccer action. The win ups the Hawks record to 1-3, while the Gators fall to 2-1.
Dery put the Hawks on the board 3:59 into the game when she drove a shot into the top left corner of the net for her first goal of the season. Dery tallied her second goal of the game 2:46 later when redirected a shot off the left post to put the Hawks in front 2-0.
Freshman Erika Galdamez (Concord, Calif) netted her first collegiate goal when she lifted a shot from 30 yards out, clearing the outstretched arms of Pine Manor’s goalie Natasha Kopystynsky (Johnsburg, Ill.), making the score 3-0. The Hawks increased their lead to 4-0 when Selena Viera (Everett, Mass.) set up senior Christina Boucher (Pawcatuck, Conn.) for her first goal of the season. Becker widened their margin to 5-0 in the 38th minute when Boucher connected with Lauren Zaleski (Avon, Mass.).
Becker capped off the scoring in the 76th minute when Katherine Cormier (San Diego, Calif.) fed Alyssa Bond (Thompson, Conn.), making the final 6-0.
Pine Manor goalie Natasha Kopystynsky made 15 saves, while Katherine Cormier and Kaitlyn Rose combined for the Hawks first shutout of the season.
Pine Manor returns to action on Tuesday, September 10 when they host Rivier College at 5:00 p.m. Becker also returns to the field on Tuesday when they travel to Fitchburg State at 7:00 p.m.
