WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Five different Saint Joseph College players scored in double-figures as the Blue Jays defeated Pine Manor, 85-64 Monday in a GNAC game at the O'Connell Center in West Hartford, CT.
Mary Hyde (Derby, Conn.) and Devon Diliberto (Waterbury, Conn.) scored 17 points apiece to help Saint Joseph improve to 12-6 overall (4-4 GNAC). Pine Manor is now 7-10 overall and 1-7 in the GNAC.
The Blue Jays led 44-31 at halftime as Pine Manor senior Paulette Wright (Baltimore, MD) helped to keep the Gators in the game with 10 first-half points. Saint Joseph pulled away early in the second half and built its biggest lead at 74-38 after a layup from Hyde with 10:18 to play. For the second consecutive game, the Gators finished strong but this time they were only able to cut a 36-point deficit to 19 in the final minutes.
Wright finished with 16 points and nine rebounds for Pine Manor and classmate Therline Dumeran (Cambridge, MA) had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Freshmen Natasia Franklin (Windsor, Conn.) scored 13 points off the bench, finishing in double-figures for her second consecutive game.
Pine Manor will now look to Wednesday and a GNAC contest at Emmanuel College. Tip-off is at 5:00 p.m.
