Boston by Foot Literary Tour

Solstice Summer Writers’ Conference Announces a Special Boston by Foot Literary Tour

Pine Manor College is pleased to announce that, in connection with the local tour organization Boston By Foot, a tour of Boston’s literary landmarks will be offered as part of the 5th Annual Solstice Summer Writers’ Conference on Thursday, June 25. Scheduled from June 22–26 on the campus of Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, the Solstice Summer Writers’ Conference features workshops in poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and writing for young people, along with business-of-writing seminars, panel discussions, and a free evening reading series featuring special guest Andre Dubus III.

The nonprofit educational corporation Boston By Foot, Inc., established in 1976, promotes public awareness of Boston's rich architectural and historical heritage through its guided tours, lecture series, and other activities. The tours are conducted by a well-trained, enthusiastic and diverse corps of over 200 volunteer guides, many of whom have served Boston By Foot for more than 10, 20, and even 30 years.

The Literary Landmarks tour leads visitors among the homes and haunts of the great Victorian writers such as Emerson, Hawthorne, Thoreau, Alcott, James, Dickens, and Longfellow, and through sites associated with 20th century notables such as poet Robert Frost, historians Samuel Eliot Morison and David McCullough, and medical novelist Robin Cook.
