LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Alumnae/i, Friends and Neighbors,

Intrinsic to the Pine Manor College mission is the core belief in perseverance, and our ability to overcome barriers, to learn and to grow. Many of our students demonstrate that resiliency. This Bulletin’s cover photo features one such student. Jenny Valdez ’14, overcame mounting challenges during her time at PMC. Today she makes it her life’s mission to help others while also pursuing her own professional growth at a graduate level program.

Quintin Collins, a 2018 graduate of Pine Manor College’s Solstice Low-Residency Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program, captured that sentiment in his poem “The Dandelion Speaks of Survival” (see inside cover). As our 2018 Commencement poet, Quintin’s work is an incredible display of the fruits of the Pine Manor College Solstice MFA program, whose roots come from a rich literary tradition at Pine Manor College.

Jenny and Quintin call Pine Manor College home. They do so because, during their time here, they felt the love and support that has always been and still is the Pine Manor College way. One student at a time, a commitment to bringing out the promise of each student, a place that treats one as worthy, a place where one can grow, a place that challenges and nurtures, it is indeed a place like home.

It is the same message that I heard as I traveled far and wide meeting alums and friends of the College, Pine Manor College = Home!

It is because of this shared sense of “home” that you have been increasingly generous with your time, talent and treasure, and that we have been able to accomplish so much this past year. Your support has made possible our ability to strengthen our academic programs and student life, to provide scholarship assistance, and to maintain the beauty of the Pine Manor College campus. I hope that as you read this Bulletin you will be proud of all that we are doing.

As alums and friends, our work becomes your legacy. Know that with your continued and growing support, we will accomplish even more!

Very truly yours,

Thomas M. O’Reilly
President
