PMC Athletics visits Boys & Girls Club

Students from Pine Manor’s basketball, tennis and lacrosse teams visited the Boys & Girls Club of Dorchester for a community interaction day on October 23, with the theme of the event promoting peace.
“We did all types of things,” said student-athlete Jammy Torres (right). “We facilitated activities like face painting and distributing snacks. I think the most important part of what we did was just talking with the kids and interacting.”
Representatives from three teams, as well as the Pine Manor administration and student body, visited the Dorchester program, which regularly serves youth in grades K-8 before and after school. Pine Manor’s students assisted primarily with children grades K-3.
“All the kids came back from school, we listened to music, had snacks. It was a big party for the kids promoting peace,” said Torres, a junior basketball and lacrosse player.
Children also played games, sang and told stories promoting peace. The Boys & Girls Club is located at 1135 Dorchester Ave. in Dorchester. Every year, Boys & Girls Clubs serve 4.5 million youth through programs and services throughout 50 states.
