CHESTNUT HILL, MA – After talking Game 1 25-5, UMass-Dartmouth (10-2) snuck out of Chestnut Hill with a 3-0 victory over Pine Manor, taking the final two sets 25-18 and 25-23, respectively. Tuesday evening.
The Corsairs raced out to a 5-0 lead on serves from Eleni Tsaparakis and increased the lead to 19-3, as a Pine Manor (1-9) time out did little to stop a Corsairs 10-0 run, this time with Jaclyn Davis at serve in a 25-5 Game 1 victory.
The second set was much more competitive, with the Gators opening up tying the game on consecutive kills from Laia Lopez-Best and Jen Gross. Another Gross kill broke a 20-20 tie, and Pine Manor then went up 22-20 before a 4-0 run with Safioleas serving put the Corsairs in front 24-22. Liandra Pellegrini sealed the deal with a kill, giving the Corsairs a 3-0 victory.
