Intern

Massachusetts Cultural Council
Boston, MA

Performing artists are looking for work.

Presenters are looking to hire artists, but might not know where to find them.

How do the two groups connect?

Here’s where you come in to flex your marketing muscle and get in on the ground-floor of a great new web-service that creates a forum for performing artists and presenters to find one another.

The Massachusetts Cultural Council and the New England Foundation for the Arts have created a web-service – MatchBook.org - to connect performing artists with people and organizations who might book them for gigs. These potential employers could range from a traditional presenter hiring a dance company for their season, to a wedding planner looking for a jazz-trio to play a reception, and lots more! The intern who works with MatchBook staff will help research performing arts fields, conduct mini focus groups and gather data to pre-populate the website (launching November 05) with people who hire performing artists.

Qualifications:

We are looking for an undergraduate student with an interest in the arts and in marketing. Candidates should be comfortable speaking in front of people and on the phone, have great research skills, follow-through and be familiar with office software.

How To Apply:

To apply for an internship, submit a resume and cover letter to: MCC Intern Program, 10 St. James Ave., 3rd floor, Boston, MA 02116-3803. Cover letters should address a specific internship, the applicant''s professional goals and why an internship at the MCC will help further those goals

Apply by: 05/30/2005

Salary: Stipend of $500

About this Organization:

The mission of the MCC is to promote excellence, access, education and diversity in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences in order to improve the quality of life for all Massachusetts residents and to contribute to the economic vitality of our communities.
