Internship Opportunities
| Physicians for Human Rights Cambridge, MA |
Interns are an important part of the
work we do at PHR. In these unpaid positions, interns assist staff
in the research of human rights violations in particular countries
and in organizing campaigns on select human rights issues, such as
landmines, global AIDS or juvenile justice. Interns may be assigned
a geographic area to monitor for individual violations of human
rights and help draft letters to governments to protest such
violations. Interns may also research selected human rights issues
where medicine and law intersect. Other possible projects may
involve assisting in the organization of educational programs or
national meetings on human rights issues or monitoring the media’s
coverage of human rights issues and assisting in outreach to all
forms of media (TV, radio, newspaper) with our communications
department. An intern in our Washington office may be asked to
represent PHR at press conferences or meetings, to collaborate with
and contact other human rights organizations, and to be involved in
advocacy. Interns may be asked to assist with some administrative
tasks as well To send in an application, please submit—by e-mail, regular mail, or fax—a letter of interest stating times of availability, a resume, and a 3-5 page writing sample. If possible, indicate your desire to intern for either the research, outreach, development, or communications department. We appreciate your interest in Physicians for Human Rights. accepting applications for Internships.
General Internship Information The Council for Responsible Genetics, a non-profit organization promoting a comprehensive public interest agenda for biotechnology, offers unpaid internship opportunities to qualified undergraduate and graduate students during the summer and during the academic year. Internships are available during the school year (September-December, January intersession, and February-May), and part-time or full-time during the summer (June-August). Because all internships are unpaid, CRG is flexible with internship schedules in order to accommodate any part time work you may need to do to support yourself over the summer. Interns are required to attend weekly staff meetings, and will also meet with their supervisor on a regular basis during the internship period. Interns interested in summer internships with CRG should submit application materials as soon as possible. Interviews are scheduled by phone or in person at the CRG office in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Application Materials 1.
