Research in Chemistry/Physics NSF-REU at Wellesley College Description: June-August; Stipend: 4,200 for 10 weeks participation (which includes an allotment for housing). Housing will be available on Wellesley College campus. Requirements: Completed application, 3 letters of recommendations from faculty, resume, personal statement, and an official transcript of grades must be submitted. Be sure to note any prior research experience. Eligibility: Current junior Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Physics majors. Exceptionally well-qualified sophomores will be considered. Brandeis University Description: For students who are majoring in computer science, physics, engineering, or mathematics, the opportunity to learn about neuroscience in a problem-orientated setting that will serve them well. Each student will be placed into a participating laboratory and will work on a project that involves modeling neuroscience-related data. The program will be 10 weeks long, and students will receive a stipend of $4,000 for participation. At the end of the summer the students will present a symposium on their research to the students and faculty of their hosting laboratories. They will also write a report on their work. Summer Research Experience for Minority Students Description: The University of Massachusetts Medical School NIH Summer Research Fellowship Program is a non-credit, ten-week, structured research experience. The program consists of "hands-on" laboratory research experience with an investigator serving as a mentor, role model and advisor. The program is designed to provide participants in-depth exposure to the actual practice of scientific research in the hopes that the excitement, challenge and creativity of the enterprise will convince them to consider basic research in the sciences as a viable career choice.
