Nashua, NH -- PMC junior Beth Deegan (Philadelphia, PA/Little Flower Catholic) scored five goals and helped Pine Manor race out to a 5-0 lead early in the first half before the Gators dropped a 12-9 decision to Daniel Webster College on Friday in Nashua, NH.
Deegan scored the first goal of the game on a free position shot just 47 seconds into the game, beginning a 5-0 run by the Gators that also included goals from Margaret Roberts (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff) and Therline Dumeran (Cambridge, MA/Cambridge Rindge). Roberts finished the game with three goals for the Gators.
Daniel Webster scored with 20:19 remaining in the first to get the Eagles on the board before the Gators struck twice more, with Deegan and then Roberts making the score 7-1 in favor of the Gators. The Eagles then scored four of the next five goals, cutting the deficit to 8-5 at the half.
In the second, Daniel Webster senior Stephanie Zeman (Jefferson Township, NJ/Jefferson Township) took over the game, scoring four of her game-high six goals to rally the Eagles from behind. Zemen capped the comeback with 10:48 remaining when she scored the eventual game winner on a free position shot with 10:48 remaining in the game. Daniel Webster would add two more goals to take the 12-9 victory.
The Eagles and Gators will battle again on Monday, May 2 at Hedley Field in Chestnut Hill, MA. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
