ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Great South Athletic Conference has announced the women's basketball Player of the Week for games played November 18 - 24 and, following voting by the league's sports information directors, Ari DeJesus of Pine Manor won the her second straight award.
Pine Manor sophomore Ari Dejesus of Providence, R.I. continued her red-hot start to the season, scoring in double-figures and leading the Gators to victory in all three of their contests this week. DeJesus recorded a double-double, scoring 17 points and collecting 12 rebounds, in a 101-70 victory over Mitchell. She followed that by scoring a season-high 28 points while also grabbing six rebounds and dishing out four assists in a 93-62 victory over Wheelock on Thursday. DeJesus then scored 25 points to help the Gators to a hard-fought 77-66 victory over Me.- Fort Kent on Saturday afternoon.
The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
