Why Apply for a Scholarship?

When you look at the thousands of dollars you will probably spend on your education, a "small" scholarship, such as one worth $200, may not even seem worth the effort. Yet, if you take the time to fill out the application—e.g. two hours to complete and essay an any necessary paperwork—and you get that scholarship, you have just earned $100 an hour. Considering the time that you have invested, it is well worth the effort!

How to Search for Scholarships

You are encouraged to conduct your own scholarship inquiries. Here’s how to begin a scholarship search:

  • Search the Web (see below for great scholarship searches)

  • Contact any business, civic, fraternal or religious organization that you or your family belong to and ask if they offer scholarships.

  • Ask your high school guidance counselor for information on scholarships that might be available through your school.

  • Contact your local library for further resource information.

Pine Manor College does not endorse fee-based scholarship search services.
