Gator 5-0: Volleyball Tops Becker, 3-0

LEICESTER, MA -- Pine Manor College Volleyball improved to 5-0 on the season Tuesday evening after defeating Becker College, and winning its first road match of the season, 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-16).

Junior Alie Johnston(Winnipeg, MB) led the Gators with eight kills, four service aces and nine digs. Senior Jen Gross (Coral Springs, FL) added nine kills and three digs to move within three kills of 500 in her career. 

Sophomore Megan Patch (Bethpage, TN) also had 25 set assists for the Gators, who tallied 31 total kills in the match. While, freshmen Amy Keokanlaya (Walls, MS) had a team high 14 digs and classmate Kayla Ulery (Goose Creek, SC) had a team high five service aces.

For Becker, senior Nicole Morse (Alton, NH) had three kills and three solo blocks while freshman Danielle Robbie (Bellingham, MA) had a team-high 11 digs.

"We had a solid match,"said Gator Head Coach Mike Murphy. "We want to keep this moment going into conference play this weekend."

Pine Manor will take its 5-0 record into its conference opener this Saturday when they travel to face Saint Joseph College to face the host Blue Jays as well as Mount Ida College during a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match beginning at 10:00 a.m.
