WORCESTER, MA -- The Gators suffered a 3-0 setback to the Engineers of Worcester Polytechnic Institute in non-conference action Thursday night at Harrington Auditorium.
Pine Manor was done in largely due to a total 28 errors, including 21 return errors, dropping consecutive games 25-12, 25-8 and 25-9.
The Engineers, meanwhile, committed only two attack errors, posting an impressive .476 hitting percentage en route to a 14th straight non-conference victory. WPI improved to 15-3 on the season.
Sophomore hitter Jen Gross led the Gators with five kills and six digs. Freshmen Alie Johnston and Susana Turcios added four digs each, and fellow frosh Aponi Washington continued her improved net play with a solo block and a block assist for Pine Manor, which fell to 1-10 on the season.
The Gators return to league play on Saturday, traveling to Norwich for a GNAC tri-match against the host Cadets at noon and Emmanuel at 2 p.m.
