Gators Drop GNAC Tri-Match

Chestnut Hill, MA - The Gators missed out on a opportune time to gain ground on two GNAC rivals Saturday, dropping both halves of a home tri-match, 0-3 (25-20, 25-15, 25-22) to Mount Ida and 1-3 (28-16, 17-25, 25-13, 25-12) to Emmanuel.

The Saints return to Fenway unscathed, beating Mount Ida 3-1 (28-16, 17-25, 25-13, 25-12), while Pine Manor falls to 7-14 and 3-5 in league play.

GNAC blocks leader Amanda Dennis (Haverhill, MA/Whittier Tech) led the Gators with six blocks against the Mustangs (13-11, 5-4 GNAC) and added 12 kills against Emmanuel (11-10, 7-1 GNAC). Jennifer Gross (Coral Springs, FL/Coral Glades) and Rachel Mastine (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers) each went for three blocks in the loss to Emmanuel, with a Mastine solo block going for the game-winning point in Game 2. Ally Austin (Hamilton, OH/Badin) added 12 assists against the Saints, with a Gators 5-0 run on Austin's serve extending a 14-13 lead to 19-13 and making the difference in their only set win on the day.

The Gators now embark on a four-game road trip, visiting UMass-Boston on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Mount Ida takes on Salem State Thursday at 6 p.m., while Emmanuel plays host to Johnson & Wales Tuesday at 7 p.m.
