Gators drop season opener to Suffolk

BELMONT, MA -- The Gators dropped their first match of 2009, 9-0 against Suffolk Thursday night at the Belmont Hill School.

Rennea Reid and Myrell Redmond each won one game before both falling 8-1 in third and fourth singles, respectively.

"Myrell won her first game," said first-year Pine Manor coach Chris Pugliese.  "I loved the smile on her face."

For the Gators (0-1), freshman Chelsea Swiger fell in first singles, while Lindsey Vaughn dropped her second doubles match. The Rams improved to 2-0.

Pine Manor travels to Paxton to take on Anna Maria on Sunday at noon before returning to campus for a three-match homestand, starting with Simmons on Monday at 4 p.m..
