CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.– Pine Manor dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match to Emmanuel College, 3-0 (25-6, 25-15, 25-16) on Monday October 25. Despite a match-high 9 kills from sophomore Alie Johnston (Winnipeg, Manitoba/River East Collegiate) the Gators were unable to overcome an impressive Emmanuel team.
Led by junior Jenna Ross (Centerburg, OH/Centerburg), 5 kills, and sophomore libero Yun-ting Lee (Cambridge, MA/Cambridge Rindge & Latin), 15 digs, the Saints raced out to capture the first set in commanding fashion, 25-6. After capturing the first set, Emmanuel never looked back, moving on to take the second set 25-15 and the third 25-16. Emmanuel improves to 14-13 overall, while the Gators slip to 6-15 overall.
For the Gators, Johnston and junior Jennifer Gross (Coral Springs, FL/Coral Glades) each tallied 13 digs for Pine Manor in the losing effort. Gross also had 3 solo blocks in the match. Freshman setter Megan Patch (Bethpage, TN/Red Boiling Springs) handed out 14 set assists for the Gators. Patch, alongside freshmen Ashley Carusone (Nashua, NH/Nashua North) and Gloria Lara (South Boston, MA/East Boston) all finished the match with 11 digs for Pine Manor.
Pine Manor will head back on the road tomorrow night, Tuesday October 26, as the Gators will travel to Chicopee, MA for a 7 pm match-up with Elms College.
