WENHAM, MA -- The Gators fell to 0-5 on the season with a 77-60 loss at Gordon College on Saturday afternoon despite 21 points, seven rebounds and five steals from forward Paulette Wright.
A pair of three-pointers from freshman Tia Nelson kept the Gators within a dozen at halftime, at 42-30. Wright totaled nine of her 21 in the first, but 48 percent second half shooting distanced the Fighting Scots down the stretch.
After hitting on only 4-13 treys in the first half, Gordon connected on 7-13, for 54 percent, in the second. The Scot's Emily Armstrong led all scorers with 23 points, shooting 5-11 from downtown. Marybeth Conlon scored 11 of her 15 in the first, as Gordon improved to 3-4.
Enjolee Phillips tallied 15 points on 7-14 shooting and added seven rebounds for Pine Manor. Stacie Beauford followed, with 10 points and six boards. Junior Jataiya Alexander continued her stellar play, with seven points, seven boards and five steals.
Pine Manor returns home to take on New England College on Monday at 7 p.m.
