CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Pine Manor College women's basketball freshman Susan Le (Lowell, Mass. ), above, scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Gators to a dominating 97-39 victory over visiting Hampshire College on Wednesday evening at Brunelli Court. Pine Manor improves to 7-1 on the season with the win.
The Gators jumped out to a lopsided 52-13 advantage at the half, thanks in part to sophomore Ari DeJesus who scored 16 of her 18 points in the opening half. DeJesus and Le also tied for game-high honors with eight rebounds apiece.
The Gators used a 19-0 run to take a 23-2 lead, following a three-pointer from Sybil Lynch (Hoboken, N.J.) at 11:04 of the first half. Pine Manor controlled the game throughout, never trailing en route to the 97-39 victory.
Sophomore Alexis Lee (Akron, Ohio) finished the game with 14 points while freshman Chaniyah Swan (Jersey City, N.J.) added 12 points off the bench for the Gators. Lee and Swan each finished with a game-high five assists in the contest while helping Pine Manor’s bench to outscore Hampshire by a 55-8 margin.
Monica Sota scored a team-high 18 points for Hampshire. Teammate Alissa Stoney added 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds. However, Hampshire managed to shoot only 20 percent from the field while surrendering 30 turnovers in the game.
Pine Manor will be back in action on Saturday when they host Simmons at 12:00 noon at Brunelli Court.
