CLERMONT, FL -- Pine Manor was no-hit by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in a 15-0 loss Thursday morning in what ended up as the team's finale after this afternoon's game against Burlington (NJ) County College was rained out.
Junior Jen Bach and sophomore Sarah Palleschi combined on the no-hitter, which lasted only five innings. Bach pitched the first three innings, totaling three strikeouts, and Palleschi threw the final two innings, striking out one.
The RPI offense, meanwhile, exploded for 13 hits, including three runs in the first and six in the second. Freshman Gillian McCarthy led the way for the Engineers, going 3-5 with two doubles, two runs and 5 RBI's.
Pine Manor concludes its Florida trip 0-9 and is in action again on Wednesday, March 24 at home against GNAC for Lasell College at 3 p.m.
