NEWTON, MA -- Pine Manor fell to 2-10-1 on the season with a 2-0 loss at Mount Ida Tuesday afternooon.
The Mustangs (4-8-3, 2-7-2 GNAC) got on the board in the 16th minute, when freshman Elena Ooms corralled a loose ball in the box and beat Gators goalkeeper Margaret Roberts to the right corner of the net. Pine Manor put three shots on goal in the first half, but Mount Ida went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
Ooms and the Mustangs peppered Roberts in second stanza, finally taking a 2-0 lead when Katie Lorenco grabbed a loose ball at the six yard line at 72:15 and beat Roberts to her left. The Mustangs outshot Pine Manor 15-3 in the half and 24-9 overall, with Ooms launching a game-high seven shots.
For the Gators (0-10 GNAC), sophomore Alicia Grenier totaled team-best five shots in front of Roberts, who made a career-high 11 saves in goal.
Pine Manor starts a two-game homestand on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. against Lasell. The Gators honor lone senior Michelle Myers on Saturday with a non-conference match-up with Daniel Webster at Hedley Field at noon.
