BOSTON, MA -- Pine Manor fell to 2-9 with an 18-6 defeat at Simmons College in the team's Great Northeast Athletic Conference finale Monday night at Winsor School.
Sophomore Beth Deegan and freshman Myrell Redmond scored three goals each for Pine Manor.
Redmond got the Gators on the board with an unassisted goal at the 29:29 mark to take a 1-0 lead, but Simmons retalliated with seven straight goals from seven different players. Nine Sharks scored goals in the first half alone, as Simmons took a 12-2 lead into the intermission.
Beth Deegan strung consecutive goals together in a 90-second span midway through the second half, but by then the home team had opened up a 16-3 lead, as Bayleigh Isherwood became the last of 11 Sharks to find the back of the net. Redmond added her 20th goal of the year, but Simmons cruised to an easy 18-6 victory.
Justine Beauchamp and Rachel Wallace tied Deegan and Redmond for game-high honors with three goals each, while Mikaela McSherry added two goals and three assists for the Sharks.
Deegan's three goals give her a team-leading 26 for the season. Redmond's third goal gives the freshman 20 for the season and extends her goal scoring streak to nine games to open her career.
Pine Manor closes its 2010 season on the road at Becker Tuesday night at 6:30.
