LYNN, Mass. -- Pine Manor College held on to take a 73-72 road victory over Fisher College on Wednesday evening at Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium in Lynn, MA. The win helps the Gators improve to 5-8 on the season and gives Pine Manor back-to-back victories for the first time since early December when they topped Lesley and Newbury in consecutive road contests.
Pine Manor sophomore Natasia Franklin (Windsor, CT) led the way for the Gators, scoring a game-high 23 points and collecting a game-high 21 rebounds. Javanna Bernard (Waterbury, CT) scored a team-high 20 points for the Lady Falcons.
The teams played a tightly contested first half, with Fisher heading into the break with a 33-30 lead over the Gators. In the second half, Fisher continued to hold the lead for much of the half but was unable to put away Pine Manor. With time winding down Fisher senior Porsha Grayson (Merced, CA) knocked down a jumper with 29 seconds to play to give Fisher a 72-71 lead. However, two Pine Manor free throws from Alexis Lee (Akron, OH) with seven seconds to play gave Pine Manor the final lead at 73-72. Lee finished with 12 points for PMC.
The Gators will return to action next Thursday, January 24 when they take on Wheelock College at Pine MAnor Gym at 6:00 p.m. The Lady Falcons will host Albany Pharmacy on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. Fisher will also travel to Pine Manor later this season for their regular season finally on February 13.
