Ways to Give to Pine Manor College
Cash Donations: Check or Credit Card

card, is the most common way of supporting the College. The net
cost to the donor who makes a cash contribution will be lower than
the dollar amount of the gift because of the charitable tax deduction.

Gifts of Appreciated Securities
Giving appreciated stock or mutual funds
to Pine Manor College is more tax advantageous than giving cash.
If you give appreciated securities held longer than one year, you
can deduct the full fair market value of the securities, regardless of what you originally
paid for them. And you pay no capital gains tax on the securities
donated. With these tax savings, the actual cost of your gift is
less than if you had made a cash gift.
The date of your gift for valuation purposes is the date
on which the securities actually pass from your control, regardless
of when you instructed your broker to transfer them. The amount
of your gift for gift crediting purposes will be the mean market
value of the high and the low per share price of each security on
the date of transfer.
