BOSTON, MA – Seven Pine Manor student-athletes were named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Team, the league announced Tuesday morning.
Six of Pine Manor’s seven intercollegiate athletics teams were recognized among the seven honorees, with junior Courtney Wallace leading the way. A biology major, GNAC Softball First Team All-Conference catcher and recipient of the 2009 Pine Manor Scholar Athlete Award, Wallace (Steep Falls, ME/Bonny Eagle) earned a 3.98 grade point average.
Fellow GNAC Softball First Team honoree and biology major Patty Pabon, who addressed her Class of 2009 classmates at the College’s 97th commencement ceremony last month, merited a 3.97 GPA. The 2008 Pine Manor Scholar Athlete Award winner, Pabon (Bronx, NY/Townsend Harris) was a teammate of Wallace on the cross country and softball teams.
Senior business administration major Stephanie Ludwig (Henniker, NH/John Stark) was also honored. A 2008 GNAC Lacrosse All-Conference midfielder, Ludwig posted a 3.91 GPA.
Volleyball teammates Veronica Vozzolo (Bellmore, NY/JFK) and Ally Austin (Hamilton, OH/Badin) were recognized by the conference. Vozzolo, a junior communications major who also starred on the softball diamond, earned a 3.84 GPA, while Austin, a 2007 Volleyball All-GNAC honoree, finished the year with a 3.80 GPA.
Michelle Myers and Marie Odney round out Pine Manor’s honorees. Myers (Freeport, NY/Freeport), a junior psychology major, is one of four softball players honored by the conference. Also a member of the soccer team, Myers posted a 3.66 GPA, while Odney, the lone tennis representative, obtained a 3.29 average.
Second-year student-athletes who earned a GPA of 3.25 or better (on a 4.0 scale) are eligible for consideration. For a complete list of GNAC Academic All-Conference designees, click here.
