WENHAM, Mass.— Despite opening the game on a 12-0 run, Pine Manor (2-2, 0-0 GNAC) dropped a 65-53 decision to the Gordon Fighting Scots in their final contest before the Thanksgiving holiday on Tuesday evening at the Bennett Athletic Center.
With the Gators out to a 12-0 lead five minutes into the contest, Gordon answered right back. The Fighting Scots netting 11 unanswered points to close the gap back to within one. The teams would stay deadlocked until just before the half when Gordon guard Clancey Adams (Simsbury, CT) drained a three to give Gordon the 23-21 advantage heading into the break.
For Pine Manor, Therline Dumeran (Sr./Cambridge, Mass.) tallied a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double, Tia Nelson (Jr./Rockport, Mass.) and Phibe Pham (Sr./Boston, Mass.) netted 15 and 12, respectively, and Ashley Carusone (So./Nashua, N.H.) collected 10 rebounds in the loss.
The game remained close throughout the second half, but Pine Manor was never able to regain the lead from Gordon. The Scots would retain the lead for the entire second half, never allowing the Gators any closer than five in the final 10 minutes of play.
For Gordon Leanna Tallamy (Wantage, NJ), finished the night just one rebound short of a double-double while scoring a game-high 30 points. While, Lauren Kranyak (Locust Grove, VA) registered a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Gordon.
Following the Thanksgiving break, Pine Manor will travel to take on Bay Path on Tuesday, November 29 at 8:00p.m.
