Students considering graduate level education should review the following timeline. Researching and applying to graduate school is a lengthy process, so start early.
Spring semester of Junior year:
- Begin to compile a list of the colleges or universities that offer the program you are interested in.
- Talk to faculty, alumni, friends, family, etc.
- Meet with a counselor in the Career Services & Experiential Learning Center.
Summer before Senior year:
- Research the colleges and universities on your list.
- Use the Graduate School Information Sheet to keep track of the application information.

Fall semester of Senior year:
- Meet with a counselor in the Career Services & Experiential Learning Center.
- Finalize your list of schools.
- Register and study for admissions exams: GRE, GMAT, MCAT, etc.
- Take the exam (usually in October)
- Near the end of the semester, ask professors and/or employers to write letters of recommendation. Give each person a resume and transcripts for them to review prior to writing the recommendation. Allow 4-6 weeks for the recommendations to be completed.
