Gross Powers PMC Past Regis

CHESTNUT HILL, MA -- Pine Manor senior Jen Gross (Coral Springs, FL) totaled a team high 15 kills and the Gators ran their record to an undefeated 9-0, finishing the month of September undefeated for the first time in school history, after defeating Regis College, 3-0 ( 26-24, 25-19, 25-16) on Wednesday evening in Chestnut Hill, MA.

After falling behind early in the first set, the Gators rallied behind five kills from Gross and 4 kills from junior Alie Johnsotn (Winnipeg, MB, Canada) to take a 26-24 set victory. Johnston finished the match with nine total kills. Johnston also tied with freshmen Amy Keokanlaya (Walls, MS) for the team lead in digs with 10.

From the first set on, Pine Manor took control, hitting .360 in the second set as Gross continued to assert herself both at the net but at the service line as well. The senior from Coral Springs, FL also had a team high seven services aces, three of which came in a 25-19 second set victory. The Gators would then move on to capture a 25-16 third set victory.

For PMC, sophomore Megan Patch (Bethpage, TN) finished the match with 28 set assists and two services aces of her own. While freshmen Kayla Ulery (Goose Creek, SC0, Destiny Mann (Orlando, FL) and sophomore Ashley Carusone (Nashua, NH) all finished the match with 3 kills apiece.

Pine Manor will resume conference play this weekend when it travels to Northfiled, VT for a GNAC tri-match with host Norwich and current GNAC front-runner Emerson College. The Gators as scheduled to take on Norwich at noon before doing battle with Emerson at 2 p.m.
