CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Hampshire College’s Melissa Siegfried scored twice in the first half and added another in the second half to help lead visiting Hampshire College to a 5-0 victory over Pine Manor College Women’s Soccer on Friday afternoon at Hedley Field.
Siegfried scored both Hampshire goals in the first half thanks to corner kick assists from Julie Pedtke. The first came at the 21:13 mark of the first when Siegfried connected on a header from a Pedtke corner to make the score 1-0. Just over twelve minutes later Pedtke delivered another corner kick into the Gators penalty area that Siegfried recovered and shot-in low past PMC goalkeeper Natasha Kopystynsky (Johnsburg, IL).
Kopystynsky finished the match with 22 saves, despite surrendering five goals. The setback drops Kopystynsky and the Gators to 2-6-0 overall on the season. Hampshire improves to 2-4-2 with the victory.
Following a goal from Ari Rose in the 60th minute, Pedtke and Siegfried would connect again with ten minutes remaining in the second half, making the score 4-0 in favor of Hampshire. Katie Marony would add another Hampshire goal in the final minutes of the game to make the final 5-0.
Pine Manor will return to action on Monday afternoon when they travel to take on Bay Path College at 4:00 PM. Hampshire will be idle until October 19 when they will host the Gators in Amherst, MA.
