Artist's Statment: These drawings and color woodcut prints are based on research
done on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, and other parts of the
Canadian Maritimes, where the indigenous Mi'kmaq Indians, French
Acadian settlers, English and Scottish immigrants have created a
unique blend of cultures. Poised on the extreme edge of the
continent, the images of sea, cliffs, rivers, and forests are often
combined with Indian and Celtic Myth and lore to produce works which
reflect these beautiful, haunting places.
