What Students Say
Noriko Hirota, Japan
As I just graduated from Pine Manor College this May, I often remember the time when I first got here in 2003, and how my college life was. There are many reasons I chose this school but one of the reasons I chose PMC is the size of the College. There are only 500 students in this school, and this small size was just perfect for me. The average class size is around 12 students so you can get to know your professors and classmates very easily. I was not confident in my English and this small size environment gave me great benefits to ask questions to my professor easily and get close with my classmates. The great environment for international students was the one of the main reasons I chose Pine Manor College.
You can also use the Learning Resource Center (LRC) where tutors help you with writing, American class style, etc. The class style in Japan and the USA is of course totally different. So the tutors in LRC have been a great helper for many international students (including me!) who have no idea what to do in American classes. Another reason why I chose this school is the diversity. There are many students from different countries. This diverse student body helps to open your eyes to enjoy different cultures. In 4 years I have made many friends from all over the world (I had a chance to visit my best friend to India one summer!). Also, PMC has a great Internship course where you can experience working in USA. This helps you to understand how American working environment is and how you can really exercise your knowledge and ability that you learn in school.
Also, I like the fact that this College is located in Boston Massachusetts. Boston has four very beautiful seasons like Japan. My most favorite season in Boston is fall time when you can enjoy very beautiful color changing on trees. What I like most about living in Boston is the convenient public transportation! You can use train or bus to go everywhere (It just takes you 20 minutes to go to Boston downtown). So international students like me don’t have to worry about not having a car here. NYC is 4 hours away from Boston. It is another great benefit to living in Boston.
Noriko will work in Boston this year and plans to apply to graduate school to continue in political science.

"It's definitely an excellent experience to study at Pine Manor. PMC is small enough for you to know everyone on campus!"
Qingyu is a current EFY student and International Student Club treasurer. She participated in International Student Education Week and lives in the residence halls.
