After leading Pine Manor to a come from behind 3-2 victory over Wentworth and a 4-0 record early in 2011, Volleyball's senior captain Jen Gross is this year's first Student-Athlete Spotlight
Name: Jennifer Gross
Hometown: Coral Springs, Florida
Why did you come to Pine Manor?
I came to Pine Manor because it just felt like the right thing to do for me. I was ready to leave home and take an adventure and having the opportunity to continue my volleyball career as an NCAA athlete was the icing on the cake.
What do you like to do outside of sports?
Outside of sports I just like to have a good time with my fiends. I absolutely love the beach and being outside and I have always had a strong passion for musical theatre.
Do you plan on playing sports or coaching after you graduate?
I definitely plan on playing sports after college. I love them way too much to stop playing. Coaching volleyball has always been something I thought about doing after college so I guess I will see where the future takes me.
What is your most memorable moment as an athlete at Pine Manor?
My most memorable moment as a Pine Manor athlete would actually be the last volleyball game I played in. Our new and very young team powered back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 to keep our record at 4-0. This is the best start to a season I have ever had playing volleyball here and it really made me proud to know that I helped build this program from when I came in as a freshman to what it is today. Everything I have put into the volleyball program here has been worth while and I am so proud to be a Gator athlete.
What do you like the most about volleyball?
The thing I love most about volleyball is simply playing the game. Although if I had to choose I guess my favorite thing would be earning a point for my team with a strong block or kill, it just gets me so pumped up.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years I see myself working at a television station trying to build my career as a news reporter or sports broadcaster.
