Box Score to follow
Chestnut Hill, MA -- Elms junior Chelsey Grabowski (South Hadley/South Hadley) scored six goals and classmate Emily Walsh (Hadley, MA/Hopkins) scored three goals to help lead Elms over Pine Manor College, 10-3, on Thursday, March 31, 2011.
The teams traded goals in the early going as Pine Manor sophomore Alie Johnston (Winnipeg, MB, Canada/River East Collegiate) would tie the score at one just under five minutes into the game. Grabowski would then score her first goal of the game to put Elms back ahead with just under 20 minutes remaing in the opening half. Pine Manor junior Beth Deegan (Philadelphia, PA/Little Flower Catholic School for Girls) would once again draw the Gators even, scoring just four minutes later. However, from that point on the contest belonged to the Blazers.
Elms would close out the half by scoring four unaswered goals and would find itself with a comfortable 8-2 lead, 13:23 into the second half. Just seconds after Walsh had put the Blazers up 8-2, Deegan would score her second of the season for the Gators to cut the deficit to 8-3. However, Elms would tack on two more goals, the last of which saw Grabowski take a feed from Walsh and fire the ball into the back of the net, making the score 10-3.
Pine Manor will now look to Saturday and an afternoon contest with Wheelock. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
