NEWTON, MA -- Six straight Lasell goals in just over five minutes gave the Lasers a comfortable lead Pine Manor could not overcome Tuesday evening, as Lasell cruised to a 19-4 victory at Grellier Field.
After the Lasers opened with two goals in the first minute, Myrell Redmond's breakaway goal put the Gators on the board just inside the 28:00 mark. Lasell then exploded for six straight scores in under six minutes, three goals from Neila Kudla and two from Ariel Walmark. Pine Manor's Elaine Rodriguez added two goals in the final half of the period, and the Gators went into halftime trailing 10-3.
The second half was all Lasers, as the home team outscored Pine Manor 9-1 and outshot the Gators 13-6 to earn their first GNAC victory. Lasell's Tina Canvan and Andrea Ward scored two goals each in the second.
For the game, Lasell worked a 28-19 advantage in ground balls, turning the ball over a dozen times to Pine Manor's 17.
Redmond's goal continues her four-game goal scoring streak to start her career. Colleen Tencza made a game-high 12 saves in goal for Pine Manor, which falls to 0-4 (0-3 GNAC) in 2010. Lasell, meanwhile, improves to 4-3 and 1-0 in league play.
Pien Manor takes travels to Emerson for a 6:00 match Thursday night.
