After a standout week in which her Gators went 2-1, freshman volleyball setter Megan Patch has been named PMC Student-Athlete of the Week.
"Megan has a tremendous responsibility in running the offense, and she has risen to the challenge time and time again," said first-year head coach Mike Murphy following his team's 3-0 win at Mass Maritime last night.
Patch opened her career with a match-high 35-assist effort in a come-from-behind, upset victory over previously undefeated Newbury, 3-2 on Wednesday. She followed her stellar debut up with a 17-assist, 17-dig performance Friday night at Regis. After her first two matches, Patch averaged 26 set assists and 12.5 digs and five aces per match.
Her Gators travel to UMass-Dartmouth on Thursday for a 7 p.m. tilt with the Corsairs before opening Great Northeast Athletic Conference play in a tri-match Saturday at Lasell against St. Joseph's (ME) and the host Lasers.
