STANDISH, ME -- Pine Manor was silenced by the Monks, falling 3-0 at St. Joseph's of Maine on Tuesday afternoon.
The Gators trailed from the onset, as Jessica Needham put St. Joe's on the board on a feed from Emily Wight 1:41 into the contest. The Monks extended their lead at 37:14, as Brianna Jordan beat keeper Colleen Tencza from the 18-yard line into the top right corner of the net, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime.
A 2-0 lead was more than enough distance. Playing without leading scorer Alicia Grenier (knee), the Gators were held without a shot for the second time in the last four GNAC contests.
St. Joe's increased its lead to 3-0 at 74:34, when a Mikayla Call shot deflected in off the outstretched hands of Tencza. The Gators freshman goalkeeper set a new career high for saves, with 13 on the afternoon.
Pine Manor falls to 2-6-1 (0-6-0 GNAC). St. Joe's improves to 4-2-1 on the season.
The Gators return to action on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Suffolk.
