Ford Hall Forum Presents Free Public Discussion

Navigating Friendships Across Racial Divides

Tuesday, November 6, 2001 at 6:30 p.m.
Ellsworth Auditorium, Pine Manor College, Chestnut Hill

Presented in collaboration with Pine Manor College

Long-time friends and colleagues at Mount Holyoke College, Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum - Dean of the College, professor, psychologist, and author of, Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria and Rev. Dr. Andrea Ayvazian - Dean of Religious Life, activist, minister, and expert on interracial relations and racial identity development will participate together in a discussion that examines the navigation of friendships across racial divides. Featuring personal examples and a conversational tone, this program will explore how "blacks must secure a racial identity free of negative stereotypes…and whites must give up the privilege that their skin color affords them and work actively to combat injustice in society."

Presented in collaboration with Pine Manor College, Navigating Friendships Across Racial Divides will take place on Tuesday, November 6, 2001 at 6:30 p.m. in Ellsworth Auditorium on the campus of Pine Manor College, 400 Heath Street, Chestnut Hill. Parking is free on campus.
